I had no problems with the Bauer-Graf transition at all. I went from a Supreme into a Ultra G35 (labelled as a Supra...they're pro-stock) with no notable issues. Of course they fit differently, and I had them baked, but after a game or 2 they were money.

Today I took a trip and tried on the Easton S15, RBK 7K (they didn't carry the 9K) and the VaporXXXX. All were size 7D. I was surprised, in a bad way, with the S15. As soon as I tightened them up I had incredible pain on the inside of my ankle on my good leg. They felt nothing like my friend's Synergy 1500 skates. I don't know if it would be better after baking, but these skates were not as comfortable as my One90s. Other's may disagree, but you have to remember that everyone's feet are different. The boot width was almost as wide as my EE One90, but probably still a hair too narrow.

The RBK 7K was very, very comfortable. The boot is too narrow, but the heel fit perfect. I'm afraid that if I buy the RBK 9K in size E the heel might be too wide, but hopefully the Pump will keep the heel in place. I thought this skate was superb, and actually purchased the 4K for my 5 year old son.

The VaporXXXX is really, really nice but not as comfy as the 7K.

I did notice that both the 7K and XXXX sides eyelets come up higher than my One90's, so hopefully i'll be able to tighten then up without having the foot pain.

Dave

To me, 7ks felt like putting two marshmallows on my feet. Some people might like that level of comfort, but I was afraid it wouldn't be responsive enough for me - I felt like could get a better knee bend with the XXVs.

All Graf's have lower cut boots...and unless you are a really strong skater or have really strong ankles, the transition is not going to be fun regardless of the model...thats my opinion anyhow.

I wouldn't call a 709 low cut

In comparison to say...a XXXX boot you wouldn't call it a lower cut? Even though it is a deep boot, I would still call it a low cut by comparison...

ehh.... i thougth the 709 together with the flexlites were the deepest retail skates on the market??

Dunno when I was trying them on they seemed a little shallower than anything in the Bauer line still, maybe I was just in awe at how well I fit the 5 series and wasn't really paying attention though  I know it is supposed to be their deepest boot though...wonder when they are gonna come out with a G9? Should be soon...anywho, for the most part Graf skates ARE lower cut, but after some getting used to...crossovers etc. are as smooth as my ass after shaving

G9 has been out for years...I think you are asking when the Ultra G9 is supposed to be out...It is, it's the Ultra G70

Well, I ordered the RBK 9K skates from Peranis online store at a fantastic price of $329. Unfortunately I had to get the ones that have the white boot accents. Nobody I could find had the regular all black boot in a 7E size. It seems they are clearing them all out (at a discounted price) for the 2008 arrivals.

I guess the white/black boot is not a biggie since I saved $$$.

They are a VERY comfortable skate. A year ago I made a pilgrimage from NC to the Livonia Perani's and spent a few hours with one of their guys and walked out of there with the 7K's. Don't rely on the pump though. I did at first, and then came to realize that after about 10 ice times that I didn't need it as the ankles had softened up enough that the laces drew them in tight enough to my ankles. Good luck with them!!
