Tapered Shaft for a Dman

Recommended Posts

I've searched extensively, but for some reason durability never really gets covered in anyone's reviews. I'd like to know about the durability of the Synergy II shaft from those that have used it - is it decent? Better than the XXXlite (which is notorious for breaking) As good as the Warrior (which most users claim is a tank)?

Well, I've never owned one, but a few of my buddies have had them and they both snapped them fairly quick. I guess I'd say t's a little more durable than a XXX lite, but no where close to a dolo or something like that.

However, some have had problems with Warriors durability. But for me, I've owned maybe 5 Warriors, and none have broken at all. I have broken an AK-27 blade, but only after 1 year of heavy use, and it was surprising as it showed no signs of wear really at all, no cracks. Just exploded on a one-timer.

Dolomites are tanks. XXX lites are better than they used to be (so I hear). Mine is going strong, been almost 4 months now.

That said, I haven't cracked a shaft in over a year. I go through blades fairly easily.

I have had really good luck with my R8 Lite tapered shaft. It has taken a multitude of slashes, hacks, and it has great pop on all shots. For my size the flex is a little whippy for a solid slap shot, but all other shots are very solid. Just another option for you....check it out. ;)

I've used a Synergy II shaft for almost 2 beer-league seasons now. It has held up very well; some small cosmetic chips, no cracks, and still going strong. No comments about XXXlites, but I've also used a Warrior Dolomite, and found it quite solid too.

Between the warrior and the easton, which did you like better, and why?

I've had a Synergy II shaft for about a year now (inline and ice) and the shaft is still going strong. Paint chipping is the only thing wrong and thats very minimal and just cosmetic. Overall, I rate it a very good shaft for durability and use (I love it!).

Synergy II blade is crap though. I suggest your money on the blades...

If I were you I would get the Warrior AK27 Nipple Grip its very durrable i would reccomend this stick.

You mean the standard shaft? I don't think the guy looking for a tapered shaft is going to want a standard shaft.

As for Dolos, the tapered Warrior shafts, durability has been nice but I've now run into the dreaded blade insertion problem. The shafts very Hilary Duff and the blades are like Lex Steele working its way in there and it's not happening.

I have had both and use the Warrior with Nipple exclusively. The Syn 2 is an excellent stick and would recommend it to anybody. However like others have said the blades are shite

They're both really solid, and have proven to be durable, at least for my purposes. My choice between the two is the Easton II, as it seems to have kept its "feel" (flex/solidity/whatever) slightly better than the Warrior. However, I'm sure either shaft will hold up well.

The usual advice applies: if you can, try them both and see if there are any personal preferences that might help you decide.

I have an '06 100 flex Synergy II and am on my second full season with it -- solid, no cracks, very durable IMO. That said, I sold a nearly brand new '07 85 flex pro stock Syn II to a friend, and he snapped it in one game.

My conclusion is the 100 Flex is more durable, but I guess that's true with most shafts because of the tighter composite weave/layering in the construction. I'd definitely recommend it to you if you want a tapered.

Give the Dolomite a try. The prostocks are cheap at HM. As cheap its gonna get for a quality shaft. (if money isn't an issue to blow on a shaft)
