Whats your feeling on Reebok skates?

Recommended Posts

I have not purchased any (NEW) skates in years. What I mean is that I have bought skates but they are several model years old purchased at closeout prices. Not the newest in modern technology by any means. My question is this, with the new Reebok skates out and the older models selling at a little lower price point which is a better choice? The 2007 roller hockey 5K without the pump, the 2007 6K with the pump or the 2007 ice version 5K converted to inline? I'm a big guy at 6'1 and 235 and I wonder how those models would hold up. I play a couple times a week in a old guys league if that makes a difference and I would probably convert them to a Sprung chassis eventually but the idea of getting wheels and bearings with the inline versions is tempting.

Thanks

Rick Henry

same as I've been saying, the RBK boot is comfy and decent, but you'll pay a premium for the pump which may or may not last. There have been a few stories from owners of the pump ceasing to work and the pump components digging into their feet afterwards. If you can find 7K or 8K skates without the pump it's probably your best best if your hung up on RBK.

Tour would be a good alternative since you are a Tacks guy, and Mission in probably an EE width.

Thanks for the replies. Who knows I might just wait to see if CCM re-introduces a Tacks boot again in the next couple of years in ice or inline.

Aren't the 2007 6K inline the same boot as the 2007 5K ice version?

Anyway, I have the new 2008 5K inline and was coming from a CCM PF6. Even though the new Rbk skates have the Tri D lites, I think they weigh about the same as the old PF6 I had. Reebok boots are probably a tiny bit heavier. The 5K boots aren't very stiff. Might last me 1-1.5 years if I play once a week. Converting skates might not be cost effective though. I'd rather get a higher end inline like the new 7K or 8K.

I have both the rbk 4k and 5k '07 inline skates. I bought each one for about $130. I have flat feet, and RBK skates are the only ones that don't hurt my feet. I can skate all day in them. I've never been happier skating in my life. I absolutely recommend RBK skates to everyone. I play outdoor and I fall a lot, and the skates have been holding up.

I have the RBK 7Ks and just love them, very little breakin period and no pain associated with the breakin at all. Ive been on various models of CCM tacks for 12 years and this years CCMs didnt cut it for me at the pro-shop, so thats why I made the switch. I've been very pleased, I do have the pump and its held up well so far, even the pumps blew out tomorrow it wouldnt really affect me at all, I might have to tighten the ankle laces a bit more but thats probably it.
