NEW Skates, How can I protect them?

Recommended Posts

well ill be sure to try these things out and let you guys know how it turns out. nothing wrong with keeping your skates looking sharp , especially whem theyre as sweet as the 9ks. dont be ashamed if you do the same, its just respecting the things one has. I bust my ass for the money I make and when i get something nice i value it, unlike some spoiled mofo's who are in their late 20's still living at home.

Yeah but I just thought it was weird that for a guy who said that he got invited to an NHL rookie camp, you sure dont know much about how to care for your skates......I just find that a little funny. I would think you would have learned to ropes by now....

you live and you learn, i never cared for my skates because i got them for free, so until now it wasnt an issue. make sense now???

I smell an awful lot of fish.....

:blink::rolleyes:

that's not fish your smelling.

seriously, use a few of those pads you protect your panties with - they'll not only keep your skates clean, they'll keep them dry too.

Back on subject...I guess.

Look...if you get white skates, expect them to get dirty. It is a frustrating thing to ask as a question for many people here that are not picky about keeping things looking new. I can understand your desire to want to keep your equipment looking new... but when you buy white tufftek gloves for example and get mad when they get dirty...you might have chosen the wrong color for your anal tendencies. Luckily on the 9K whites, the material that is white is fairly easy to clean. Use mineral spirits to wipe off puck marks and tape scuffs. Works like a charm on almost anything not made of cloth.

As far as trying to keep the skates dry...the hydrophobic liner of the skate is designed to limit water absorption. You could use a scotchguard to reinforce that.

Mineral Spirits!! Nice! You can clean and drink all at the same time! Now with the Bow-Flex and its 20 minute work out, all of us guys can get home from work, get hammered, get a workout in, and pass out all before terrible TV shows come on... But why oh why is our country still so fat?

Sorry...don't know who you are, but I certainly don't want to be responsible for someone doing something they shouldn't with mineral spirits. I am sure you were being sarcastic, but to those that don't get it...ingesting mineral spirits will most likely cause chemical pneumonia and kill you.
