Spreedizzle 1 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 Hey there everyone. Well....my company looks like they are going to be transferring me from Asheville NC to Baton Rouge LA. With a quick search through USA Hockey I found the Baton Rouge United Hockey Association (BRUHA). I have e-mailed the contact on the site, but thus far to no avail. I was wondering if anyone on here plays in this league and can give me a bit of information about it. gxc999 7 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 Hey amigo.Funnily enough, I might be moving there in the foreseeable future and was also trying to investigate the hockey leagues. I'm fairly certain there is an ice rink that is open 6 months, October to April, simply found it a while back by google. I know there's an inline league somewhere around there from previously talking with someone...If you find out something more concrete, please let us all know... Chris 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 Hey LSU and Tulane both have club hockey teams that play in Baton Rouge, they play at Leos Iceland or something like that heres a link Leos Iceland theres info on different leagues and what not...hope this helps. Chris 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2008 Haha yea its funny the looks people give you when they hear you're trying to start a club hockey team, but it's surprising that the majority of SEC schools have club hockey. Granted we'll be driving 2.5 hours to the rink to practice and don't have much money, but we're pretty serious and trying hard to get this thing off the ground. By the way any ideas on places to get support for a team like this since the school can't really support us monetarily.Car washes, visibiity..etc..I remember the old days on campuses..Club hockey teams were a good draw..It was like going to the bar..Local rink, games and lots of beer w/o the NCAA and campus rules. Spreedizzle 1 Report post Posted April 1, 2008 It is official.....I start my life in Baton Rouge LA in a week. Job transfer, and what looks to be a great ice hockey league there also. I'm really looking forward to it.
