hehatemefrisbee 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 it sounds like she is still somewhat new. New drives are always worried about having the blade too low, and gouging the ice. It can happen, and its not good. She just needs to lower that blade a little more, and put some more water down to help fill in the cuts she couldnt get out. When I drive, unless its for a game, I use full water pretty much the whole time. For a game, i turn the water down a little, so it sets up quicker. You cant be a pussy on the zam though, you gotta have some balls. I mean its not THAT hard to fuck up the ice, but its not like its easily done either. Jake 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 a beice of bone broke off and went through his skin? Not sure why I'd lie about this considering my mom is the nurse who did take care of himSo you're sticking with your story that a kid broke his femur because of bad ice, and a chunk of said femur exited his body and ended up on the ice? shooter27 116 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 Compound fractures where the bone breaks the skin do occur. I could definitely see a scenario where a compound fracture happened and a piece of the exposed bone did break off.

pmchelli 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2008 http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w210/canaanakl/ice2.jpgI didn't want to start a new thread. Pens game today was delayed 30 minutes because the one Zamboni had some hydrolic issues. Talk about Zamboni issues.

burrn 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 today I tried to take a pic of the ice at my rink, but it was really hard to get one that showed the roughness of it well, so you might not be able to either.although I'm rather skeptic about that bone thing too, tell the driver to lower the blade as mentioned before. only solution. -brady2 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 im not sure whatsnot believable about bone shards leaving someones leg onto the ice in a compound fracture
Nico 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2008 im not sure whatsnot believable about bone shards leaving someones leg onto the ice in a compound fractureMaybe it's the fact the most players wear hockey pants and unless the kid was playing in his briefs it is unlikely that bone shards were left in the ice. Secondly, the femur is the largest bone in the body. It's hard believe that it broke while skating on some crappy ice.
-brady2 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2008 Our player suffered a compound fracture. He required surgery and is out for the rest of the season. We would like to thank Joanne Brady who stayed with our player until his transfer to Bonnyville for his operation.Head CoachU16 Storm
