Intermediate Shafts

Recommended Posts

Not to hi jack this thread, but I have had a question on intermediate shafts I have wanted to ask for some time.

Being a smaller player 5'7" 175lbs, senior sticks I always have to cut down. Even if its the lightest flex of 75 or so, it ends up being a 95 or so by the time I cut the 3-4" off the shaft. I can still shoot somewhat decent with the senior sticks, but cant feel the flex or pop when I take a wristshot. Does anyone have any experience with using the Int. shafts with a regular Adult blade on them (if it fits) and also with the flex being lower any problems with having too much flex and snapping the shafts in half? Being the Int. shafts are somewhat smaller around than the senior sticks.

thanks,

Casey

I'm interested in the answer to this question as well. I'm only 5'6" and am in the same boat.

Most of the intermediate sticks do take senior blades, I'm pretty sure the Easton Synergy is an exception to this and only takes intermediate blades. But intermediates blades aren't that easy to find, so I'm led to believe most companies just make the senior blades fit. And as far as cutting shafts, I'm really hesitant to cut shafts and make them stiffer as I don't weigh very much and don't think I can flex anything in the 80+ range.

I'm 5'8" and use 75 and 80 flex sticks. I don't think you're at risk for snapping them if you can't flex the 85's cut down.

One thing to look out for, some intermediate shafts might not be all that whippy. The Dolomite, from what I've read, is pretty stiff for a 70 flex, maybe stiffer than the 75 senior. My theory is that the thinner shaft tapers less, raising the kickpoint, making it feel stiffer.

Anyways, TPS makes intermediate shafts, Bauer makes intermediate shafts, Easton, Warrior, and TPS make whippy senior shafts, you should be able to find something that works.
