Tour question

Recommended Posts

I've been wanting to buy a pair of code 1s to put on sprungs. Haven't really been keeping up with roller stuff since I dont play often. SO I need some help here.

Code 1 became Code Carbon, correct?

Now is the code carbon RH skate boot the same as the ice hockey boot?

False, the code carbon is much stiffer and should be lighter. The new cobalt 9.9 is supposed to be a tad stiffer code 1. The ice boot should be the same as the roller boot without the DPS groove for the hummer chassis

You won't need the groove for the sprung chassis. If you look closely at it you'll notice there is chassis between the wheels and the boot.

Cobalt Q----$449 to 459

Code Carbon---$399

Cobalt 9.9----$329 to 339 Similar to the Code 1 but with more support. Will have the same comfort but stiffer. Labeda Fuzion wheels.

Cobalt 8.8----$215 to 229

This is a quote from the tour guy (tour17) from the cobalt thread, explaining the new line. looks like the code 1 and 9.9 have the same fit.

also, I don't know if I would want that gap under the plastic sprung chassis. Because it is flat against the outsole and made of plastic, my guess is it might bend into that slot. I would rather go for the ice boot for the flat outsole (and because it is cheaper if you can find it).

I didn't know you had trouble finding them...I got mine at 247hockey.com, which were then on sale for 260, but they still have alot of sizes now.

why buy code 1's just to put a different chassis on them? Just hit a local hockey shop and get fitted for some ice boots and throw on the sprungs. My local shops are selling the leftover stuff at 50% right now. I like my Tours in that they are light and responsive, but the ankle padding is so little that the stiff boot hurts my ankles. I have to tuck padding I cut out of another pair of skates to make them bearable to wear. When I wrote Tour about this they blew me off and said that by the time the ankle padding breaks down the rest of the boot will be done as well. This is completely wrong and I have teamates who have had the same issue with Tours. It's really a shame in that the product is so nice otherwise. I don't see how hard it would be to correct this issue and make the skates even better. Hopefully the cobalt series has addressed this issue.

he is looking at getting the code carbon ice hockey boot and he was asking the comparison between the code carbon and the code 1 boot and then was asking if the carbon roller boot is the same thing as the ice hockey boot

all there in the first post if you read it

Well originally the plan was to buy code 1s and put sprungs on them. The idea there is that the boot would be a cheap trial($200) to see if I liked a lower cut boot, and hopefully fix my forward flex issues I have on my XXXXs. Think this might eliminate my almost sudden pain in the forefoot too... I still find it odd that all of a sudden my skates aren't fitting right. <_<

This is actually probably better, because I can get the carbons sharpened and skate on them on ice to see how they feel on the surface I'm used to.

In the past the tour ice skates still have the DPS grove under the holders.
