New Replacement Skates On The Way

Recommended Posts

My 1 year old CCM 852 Skates (2002 Model) were sent back to Reebok/CCM for repair one week ago. The tendon guards on both skates were broken and digging into the back of my leg. They determined the skates were not repairable and decided to send me a new pair of skates.

Hoping they would send me the CCM Vector 6.0 or maybe the CCM Vector 8.0. Much to my surprise they are sending me the 2007 CCM Vector 10.0 SE skates. OMG, I can not believe how excited I am about using such a high end skate.

CCM suggested going to my LHS and have them heated. Hope I can skate in them the same day I get fitted. I usually skate twice a week for one hour.

Do you know if the break-in will take a long time?

Will walking around the house with the skate on help speed the break-in duration?

You should wait 24 hours after baking before you skate on them.

I believe it was no warrenty thing. I think he sent them to CCM to repair them and wanted to pair for the (professional) repair and since the skate wasnt repairable they were so kind and sent him a new pair.

I did have the 852's for less than one year and sent a reciept. They said CCM would try to fix the skate and replace them if unrepairable. Glad they sent me new ones.

if they don't give you any pain, don't bake them. i have 10.0se's and they never gave me any pain so i never baked them. its hard to tell how long they took to break in, but it took me a few weeks, skating 3-4 times a week to get used to them fully. i love the skates now.

My Son has bi-lateral clubfoot and needs two different size skates for his feet. Contacted CCM directly and they MADE him a custom pair of youth Vector 10.0's at no extra charge....Just went in to our LHS and they took all the measurements and sent them off to CCM. We just paid for the skates at the store like we were buying an off the shelf pair.

We absolutely love CCM!!!!

Buddy of mine broke his CCM 6.0 on a slapshot in the 2nd game that he had it, cracked it but didn't split it in half. He calls CCM up, they say to him to just cut it in half to save on the shipping and send it up to them and he gets a new 10.0 stick back about 4 or 5 days after he sent his stick out. They even sent it out overnight to him because he mentioned he had another game coming up.

I was impressed.

My skates came in the mail exactly one week after sending them back to Reebok / CCM.

Had my LHS sharpen and put the same radius my last skates had. They also baked them for me. While they were still warm, laced up loosely, they put my foot in a machine that had air bags in it. Felt quite a bit of pressure for 10 minutes. Should be good to go. :)

Now I am going to wait 24 hours until I skate in them.

If you guys only knew how much an employee of a proshop could get those babies for! Might have been less than what you payed for the original skates. So, while I commend CCM/RBK for their exemplory service, they are very sly in that regaurd. All in all, if you are happy, thats all that counts.
