cdoug55 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2009 hey guys. Resurrecting an old topic here. So I guess I am one of those guys who played a lot and skated a lot when I was a kid but because I wasn't comfortable doing hockey stops to the right I just never practiced it enough. So. I can hockey stop fine to the left. My inside edge on my right skate slides nicely and my outside edge of my left skate will dig in correctly if I get my weight centered correctly, but sometimes it chatters. My left leg seems to be the source of all my problems. When I try to hockey stop to the right my outside edge of my right skate digs in and does all the work while my left leg appears to not do much at all hahaha. If I try to turn my skates sharply to the right my left leg just sort of cuts into the ice but doesn't slide. I have tried to practice just doing a one foot snow plow using my left inside edge but when i turn it inwards I scrape some ice and then just sort of pull out of it. I can't get that consistent pressure and slide like i can with my right skate inside edge. So essentially I can hockey stop left, although I can't really do a one-foot outside edge stop with my left skate, (can do it with my right skate) and I can't do a real hockey stop to the right because my left inside edge doesn't slide. It also effects my stopping when i am skating backwards (can use right inside edge, but not left inside edge).I think it might all be in my head at this point hahah.
