New skates, what size?

Recommended Posts

I am gonna need new skates for next year and i am going towards the CCM U+ skate.

But one thing i don't know is what size i should get.

I wear a 10.5 shoe, but my skate is a 7.5 is that to small?

I tried on my brothers 9.5 vapor XXX's and they felt a little big.

Thanks

I don't know anything about the U+ but I would try to get some type of sizing before spending a large amount of money on skates. I wear an 8.5 bauer and I wear 11 shoe but yours is more drastic.

The normal answer is 1-1.5 sizes down from your shoe size... 3 sounds like a lot but maybe it isn't...

i suggest trying it on before buying it.

it is a little bit tighter in the heel this year compared to the rbk/vector line.

it is going to be a totally a fit to your foot skate with the new material used inside.

Go to your LHS one that you trust and get fitted properly from them. Don't worry to much about the number size just what fits your foot the best" once they've done this for don't abuse their knowledge and turn around and buy them online from some cowboy.

Leafs 1967 said it. Your LHS knows how to fit you for a skate properly. If your not experienced in what you like to wear they are the ones to consult. They can also offer you many options to what you need for the level of hockey you are playing. Ask around and find yourself a LHS that a majority of the public trust. Word of mouth is usually the best advertising for a LHS.

Good advice here. I've made the expensive mistake years ago of buying skates online without trying them on first. Even if you've worn the particular model before, they sometimes change slightly from year to year. Good customer service from your LHS is well worth the extra few bucks you might save buying online. You'll pay for it in the long run.
