Lightspeed holder/steel

I have a chance to pickup a set of mint LS2 holder/steel set for cheap.

My holders are stamped 246(4.5EE) and the ones he is selling are 254(coming off 5.5D, doesn't seem to match online size charts, but I'll take his word for it).

I was wondering if I can at least salvage the steel and make it fit into my 246 holders(or even install the 254's if the holes match?), I recall someone asking this but couldn't find it, otherwise I would think it shouldn't fit?
