Different Wood Plug Sizes?

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I broke an easton synergy OPS down by the blade, so my LHS put a wood blade in the other end and shaved off the broken part but I asked for too much of the stick to be shaved off as it is a bit shorter than what I like.

My question is this: are there different wood plug sizes? I mean the part that goes inside the shaft. I assume that the shaft down by where the original OPS blade used to be is narrower than the original butt end (where the blade is now) of the stick. I really like the stick and hope that I can find a wood plug narrow enough.

Im talking about the width of the piece that goes into the shaft. Are you talking about the length of the wood butt end that sticks out?

3", 6", 9" (you'll probably break this one if you leave it at full length)

I am going to call the LHS soon and see what they can do for me.

you're asking if you can put a "tapered" plug in the tapered side..You can shave one down if you want but i say if you have the length, flip it back around normal and cut the tapered piece off (if you don't ever want to try a tapered blade in that shaft)..and get a long plug and cut it to your desired length. This meaning you should cut the taper back and insert the blade in that end (right side up). I always suggest trying a tapered blade first tho, no sense in having it in your hands but they gave you a standard blade so you'll probably want to use it.

This is exactly what my LHS guy recommended. He only had one tapered blade at the moment and it was about 60$ so I told him I would come back.

I am guessing you would also recommend a composite tapered blade? I kind of like the feel of wood but from what I am reading on this site, it is hard to find many wood tapered blades.

True about the wood tapered blades. Easton had a synergy2 wood blade last year that you could probably find with some work.

For the composite blades, $60 is what you're going to be looking at, regardless of manufacturer.

EDIT: Hate to refer to monkey but here you go Easton Hybrid Synthesis RB

Don't know if you are still looking but try to find a sher-wood 950 blade if you like the feel of wood, it's a bit longer than most tapered blades as well so that may help you out.
