NHL to open oversees

Forgive me if theres a topic already but I didnt see it.

The Pens will play an exhibition game against Finnish Elite League team Jokerit in Helsinki on Oct 2 then open the reg season with 2 games against Ottawa in Stockholm on Oct 4-5.

The Rangers and Lightning will open in Prague the same days..

I'm not really sure how oopening the season overseas will do anything to grow the game in the Lower 48. Isn't that the goal of the NHL...to be a bigger sports entity in the States?

I think they'll take whatever they can get at this point..
