custom+ to LS2

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of putting LS2 on my Grafs 609. I have already had custom + put on. I saw somewhere there may be an issue with the holes drilled for the custom going to LS2. Any input would be great.

Thanks Sid

The holes will need to be widened to put the LS2s on.

I just went from 709s with C+ to Ultra G70s with LS2.... it's a bit of an adjustment, as the LS2 is a stiffer holder.

The pitch of the LS is also neutral, whereas the C+ is on a slight heel pitch.

I definitely feel like I'm getting more glide out of the new skates. Energy transfer is better (likely a combination of the stiffer boot and holder), but it's been a little bit awkward cutting as well as crossing over when backskating.

the custom plus is a softer plastic so the holder will feel more "springy" as to where the lightspeed holder is more rigid. also the lightspeed has a 3 mm higher heel so it will feel more on your toes compared to the custom + but also keep in mind it is only 3mm not a huge difference, i have gone back and forth without problems adjusting.

I was talking with the service guy at my LHS asking about the switch. He said don't do it cause if you over tighten the bolt it will slip. I had read this was a problem in the beginning but I also thought this issue had been solved later on? Could someone clearify this. Has this been sloved with LS2.1 power?

Thanks sid

did you get a chance to skate on the cobra 5000's ?

I am in the exact situation as you concerning skates, but I put LS2's on my 709's. And I am going with the G70's this Summer and was wondering how the cobra's held up.

Nope, I never did get a chance to skate on the cobras. Try out the cobras for a couple of weeks when you get the Ultras. If they don't work out, you can swap the LS2s from your 709s or get another set.
