Inlinepro77 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2008 I just bought these Tour Code-1 Skates and needless to say I'm very excited to be skating on these, they are so much lighter than my old 962's. As I was analyzing my newest hockey purchase I noticed a defect in the skate. (Pictures Below)The back of the one skate is fine, there is a rivet in the heel that is in no way shape or form affecting the chassis. But on the other skate Tour attached the chassis on top of the heel rivet, creating a gap between the bottom of the boot and the frame. Even though I've never skated on them, there is some play there as well if I wiggle hard enough. After looking very close, it would seem that the chassis on the one skate is actually farther back on the boot, which also makes me concerned about the longevity of the skate.I took it to my LHS and spoke to the manager there which I know. He said that the skates aren't considered defective. I ended up skating on them on Friday and I didn't really notice the defect. Still theres a sour taste in my mouth after spending hundreds of dollars on a pair of skates only to get a product I am worried will break down the road after the stress of normal use has been applied. After viewing the pictures below, do you think I should try calling Tour and trying to see if they can fix them? Or do I just continue to skate and hope nothing happens. The retailer no longer has my size, so I'm out of luck even if I were to be able to get them to agree to an exchange.Without further a due, I know the pictures are blurry but you should be able to get the point. Here is the Good SkateHere is the Bad Skate

Inlinepro77 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2008 I tried that and the holes are too close together, they would just be drilling into the old holes they said.Though I personally don't think I should be responsible for the $40 remounting fee anyways.

Inlinepro77 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2008 I have no doubts that Tour has great products, and certain people in the company have great customer service values. I just called the number above and talked to the customer service representative and he was less than friendly and overall didn't seem interested in my problem. He didn't really think it was a defect either, though he said that if I wanted to ship them back, they would take a look. He said that all the chassis are mounted in the exact same place on every skate so mounting the frame on top of the rivet isn't a big deal. When I told him that I normally keep my skates for many years, and that I was worried about the longevity of skating on them with this defect. Hoping they would compare to my old 962's lifespan his simple reply is that they wont last as long as the 962's.At this point I don't know weather i should just not worry about them, or try calling back later in the week and getting a more qualified CSR. AWE46M3 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2008 I have a similar issue with my Code-1s, also pretty much brand new (worn twice), I contacted "tour17" (Walter) on on here and sent them back 1.5 weeks ago and Im waiting to see/hear what can be done. One of my chassis was mounted on top of the rear rivet, though it doesnt seem as severe as yours, however, my concern was that one chassis was mounted crooked. The chassis being mounted on top of the rivet didnt really bother me though I did notice it while skating though I could feel the misaligned chassis. Anyway, try contacting "tour17," I'm sure he might be of more help.
tour17 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2008 Inlinepro 77Contact Brad at Tour Hockey. You can send your skates back to us and we will remount them. The Rivet in the back is protection against sole seperation. It's just a little extra strength in that arera. Sometimes the rivet is slightly off. there not always in the exact same position. The rivets are put in by hand. It should not affect the chassis. It you feel that it is affecting the chassis alignment or strength, we will examine your skates, and make any necessary adjustments. You can e-mail Brad and he will give you return information.bbrussatti@tourhockey.com
