masterpeice_patrice 4 Report post Posted March 19, 2008 college over semi pro?
Law Goalie 147 Report post Posted March 19, 2008 Yes. Absolutely. It may not be better hockey, but to be brutally honest, it's better exposure and a far better plan for the future.Look at it this way: pro teams are much more willing to take a shot at an undrafted guy coming out of the NCAA who's a little older but educated, mature, and level-headed, than they are to take an undrafted guy who's just been playing semi-pro for a few years.Like I said, you'll need to do some work to get your amateur status back, but the college will know exactly what to do there. stock07 1 Report post Posted March 19, 2008 florida.Like the Unvi. of florida?...Anyway that league the SPHL is not where you wanna be...there is some "ok" players here and their but honestly I have seen better in some top notch Adult Leagues...I would say hit the college thing and stay away from that SPHL...Although I will say the team in my city is FAR and WIDE better than the talent in previous years they have had this semi-pro league teams...Good luck in whatever you decide
johnson74 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2008 as in FGCU? I am pretty sure all college teams in Florida are ACHA-thats club not NCAA. There is a big difference. It's good hockey but not an avenue to the pro's. I wouldn't get too excited about their offer to play-they have NO scholarship money to offer. FGCU is the top florida team, all the rest are nothing to write home about. Good luck chasing the dream. There are much better teams in club hockey but if you are actually any good you would have much better luck trying the NCAA route. Even that is a pipe-dream for most players.
