I don't want to have to put up with 50 questions while I'm trying to warm up. Drag and drop names into boxes and hit save, you want a hard copy, press print. Our league runs on a tight time limit. From the end of warmups you have a minute and a half to be ready for the opening faceoff.

That wouldn't work for most of the men's league teams I've played on, because so many guys are not good about checking in before game time. This is especially true on teams where a lot of guys have family or other commitments - there's usually something that comes up with someone that is going to screw up any lines you set in advance. If one guy doesn't check in, or if one guy has something come up after the lines are set, or if one guy shows up because he didn't have to take the kids after all, the lines go out the window. We usually just set the lines in the changeroom 2 minutes before we hit the ice.

To get off GretzIsGod's back, I just wanted to mention that I use a message board. www.invisionfree.com

It's free and I just start up a topic for games and have everyone post. It's basically the same setup and look as MSH.

Nice compromise between sites like TeamSnap, TeamPages and not having to answer questions while I'm putting on my skates.

I'm not saying any of this stuff is bad, just pointless most of the time. Do your leages not have websites? We get the schedule from there, all stats, rinks, etc are posted there. Also everyone but 2 guys on our team has a crckeberry so we are a little more "connected" than most I guess. www.nchl-calgry.com is our beer league site, do your leages not have this?

Pointstreak posts league standings and point information, in addition to the "team locker room" function. They don't have a centralized message board for the league but do have a place to leave notes on the private team page.

I usually take five minutes and update the info just before I leave, then print it out. We've trained most of our guys to call or email in the event of a last minute problem, it's really just having a small amount of courtesy for the other guys on your team. If we have to make a change, it's not like we're prevented from making a change on the fly. We have a bunch of old guys on our team and we really need to have three full forward lines as often as possible. If one guy doesn't make it, we go with two centers and three pair of wingers. If we have less than that, it's a nightmare on our bench because some of our guys can't figure out how to rotate through the lines.

I just made a teamsnap account for my team, and I really think it's great. It lets people check in our out for games, and leaves messages. If so inclined, you can post the stats on there for the ones who think they are playing for a pro contract.

Holy smokes. Just started up a TeamSnap for my team last week and it's fantastic. I get availability, know if we need to call up subs, etc.

The beta has enough features for me, and is simple enough not to confuse any luddites. I hope it stays as a free beta forever.

I have just setup my team using TeamSnap also, just to give it a go as it's free for now. And yeah, I agree, it is awesome. I think I will be putting this forward to the team and getting them all to join, even if it does cost something for a yearly subscription it will still be more than worth it.

Well looks like they're charging for the most useful TeamSnap feature now.

Any alternatives people have found work for them?

Among other things, they charge $2.95 for the stats. That is the only thing my team uses. The other items are no big deal to do without.

I personally find Teamsnap awesome.

I stand corrected...Signed into my team's Teamsnap site and found that they changed the pricing without any notification. So now if we want stats tracking it'll cost us $9.95/month. We were paying $2.95. I am NOT HAPPY about the shady way of changing plans without notifying current customers. I lost quite a bit of information (stats from the season that just ended, team fee payment info) without any warning.

I will certainly check other options now.

You can still get into your account and retrieve the old info. I just did that on my account. Nothing is lost. It does stink that you have to pay for it, but my team is going to be switching to a dues system. Any money collected is spent on the team. TeamSnap, beer, practice ice, etc....

Give http://teamsite.io a try

1) It's free (TeamSnap charges for $10/month for even the basic stuff like availability and email reminders)

2) The website works on all devices (iphones, blackberry, tablets) ... before our players had to download an app, or worse some players could not use it on their phone because they didn't have an iphone...

Also, I just find the user interface a lot more intuitive and easier to use than the other ones... The "team wall" feature of TeamSite is really great because you can see everything you care about in 1 place... with TeamSnap I found

I had to click on 10 different tabs to get all the information.
