apparently management made the decision that they wanted him for next year a while ago, but never talked serious contract with him until after him skating with the USA team recently. Apparently contract talks took all of one day.

They have also signed Chris Butler, from the University of Denver, and Felix Schutz from some league in germany.

Don't know much about the seccond two, Butler was supposed to have been a pretty good Dman when he played at Denver, but I've never seen him skate. Schutz was Rookie of the year in the Euro league he plays in...

Felix Schutz played in the Q for the Saint John Sea dogs, i think he was there first player to be drafted actually. Did pretty well in the Q and i thought he chose to play in germany instead of playing AHL this season, i could be wrong those.

They didn't really pick him up, he was drafted by the Sabres.

Do I sense another Brian Gionta in the league?

Hopefully Gerbe plays better than Gionta does (though Gionta did have some decent seasons).
