RbK 5K Forsaken Skates

Recommended Posts

For what it's worth, I have been an ice player, and my local rink installed a sport court. I didn't want to dump a bunch of money into skates until I knew if I was going to enjoy inline. I went ahead and purchased the RbK 5ks. The Rink Rat Hot Shots have felt great, and I have been more than pleased with the comfort. This is just the opinion of a rec player, but I thought I would be the voice of the bender.

By the way, I have really enjoyed inline. I wish I could play both year round.

This thread seems to have come out of no-where

If they are a good skate for you then thats great to hear, although (some one correct me if im wrong here) hasn't there been a lot of issues with axles stripping on the new tri-di's?

Enjoy inline!

It is a random post, but while I was searching for a new pair of skates it seemed that I couldn't find information on an average skate for a bender :P . I thought I would throw it out there, and if there are issues, I would like to hear them to be prepared. Thanks for the comments about the axles.

the RBK is a decent boot, but in the last few years the axles have been very suspect on both RBK and CCM models due to lower end materials used.

i believe some of the screws were even sealed with lock tight, so they are very difficult to remove and change wheels. i guess a small price to pay, but annoying none the less

chassis and pump breakage. Monkey is advertising it's the new "Second Gen Reinforced Pump", so who knows on that one.

Well, I've really abused the hell out of my rbk 4k and 5k '07 models playing outdoor on asphault and falling all the time, hard. Sometimes the axkles get stripped and I can't unscrew the screw, but I just take my skates to my LHS and they replace it for me. No biggie IMO.

the frame is essentially the same as the PF series from a couple yrs ago and I had the frame strip so the star end of the axle wouldn't lock in tight. A few people have had the pumps break and the boot starts digging into their foot.

Well, one other issue I have in both my skates is that the material covering the back heel area is coming apart, and my foot is rubbing against the hard plastic underneath that. I just assumed this was because the skates are a size 10, and I think I need a 9.5, though I am not really sure.
