Question about my new mask

Recommended Posts

So i'm just starting to play goal, and I went and bought the bulk of my equipment last week. I got what I was told is A fusion Pro mask. The only problem is i am having a difficult time finding any information about this mask. So basically if someone could tell me if this is a good quality mask that I should play with or should I just go buy something else before I get hurt? Thanks.

Name or brand is not so important, it's construction. If the mask construction is good, fibreglass with carbon/kevlar reinforcements, stainless cage, it will suit you just fine. Heck, I had a handmade custom facemask built in Cheevers time that I used for 20 yrs. Fibreglass wonder. No major injuries.

Problem is, without a name that you know and trust, how do you know how a mask was constructed? Materials is just a small part of the whole picture and it is how those materials are put together that truly matters.

That said, I have heard of Fusion masks and even spoke with the makers of same a few years ago. Seemed to be a nice, solid low to mid level mask.

well it seemed like a good mask, it's light, feels solid and I paid 290 dollars for it. So hopefully I have no problems but I would love to hear from someone who wears one. Any more help is greatly appreciated. THanks

well, i used my mask. It's extremely comfortable, very light, but when I took a hard slap shot to the face my ear started ringing and didn't stop for a good 6 hours. Is this normal or no. I've talked to some goalies who said it's happened to them before, so i'm wondering if this is normal and something i'm going to need to get used to. or is it the helmet. I really appreciate everyones help and i'm sorry about all of the questions.

I've got the ringing thing a few times after being it square on the cage wearing a Olie 9900 but it never rang for that long. Usually it rings for 30 seconds to a minute from a good hard one timer. I know the 9900 is shun upon and called the Widow Maker but so far I have not had any injuries whatsoever. Never even been rattled after being hit with a hard shots and actually two hard shots in 10 seconds. Only problem is the ringing and it doesn,t last too long so seems like my mask may not be that bad after all if your's rings for 6 hours after being hit.... That being said, there is indeed not too much info out there on these masks.
