New Pads

Recommended Posts

I'm currently wearing the RBK Premier One Pads(12"). I need to go to all new gear for next year to play juniors. I was just wondering if you had any suggestions on the pads and the glove that I should look at. I am thinking about getting the RBK II full set.

Do you like your premiers? If so, then why not just go ahead and get the pIIs? While not exactly the same pad, it is something that you are familiar with.

if you have the money and are looking for a full set, the Itech RX9 are a good buy (a bit pricey though) i have the pads and love them but didnt have enough money to buy the glove and blocker which are equally nice

Ok I'm pretty sure that i'm going with the RBK pads. Now what about chest and skates? I'm thinkin RBK for both but I'm not sure if i should go with the 7K or 9K skates and the Premier II chest or the XPulse.

Gotta go 9K for the skates. As for the chest...See if you can find an old Black/Yellow Premier Pro on Ebay. They go cheap, and are Very popular in the N. Your team should provide Pants...so no worries there. Now just gotta get rid of that bucket of yours.

Assuming it fits, the best skate you can get right now would be a Bauer One95 boot in an RBK 9K cowling. That said, get whatever boot fits: Graf, RBK, Bauer, whatever. The RBK steel is miles ahead of everything else on the market. The only real decision is whether you want the thinner steel (9K) or normal width (5K). They're equally durable - it's just a question of whether you like a slightly finer touch or a little more power in your pushes.

The P2 pads will be very agreeable if you liked the P1's. It was a nice refinement, especially in the knee-block. You might also have a look at the Bauer One95's - they seem to get good reviews from former RBK users.

As far as the C/A, again, just get what fits and feels good. The differences between models and companies are subtle but quite big when you look into it a bit. The RBK is designed to really 'lock down' when you butterfly and tuck your elbows in; the Vector is a slightly more traditional fit carried over from the Gatekeeper.

If you have a narrow bfly, go with the PII's, with the Turco break. If you have a wide butterfly go with the regular PII's.

his is pretty average...sort of wide...but a 5 hole like a Bitch!!!! HA! Be sure to get + Sizing

In that case, make sure you get white color on the 5-hole side of the pad, that confuses the shooters and makes it look small. They are suckers for that and will shoot elsewhere. Of course if you have sucky gloves, you're out of luck. :-)
