How to tie skates?

Recommended Posts

Ya I did a search..didn'd find anything.

How do you properly tie your skates? I went out for the first time playign ice hockey a couple weeks ago but I felt my right skate being too loose..to the point it was wobbly.

Well lets see...

Tie your skates like you would normally tie your shoes (not "fashionably", but really tied). With the stiffness of modern skates you will generally want to tie the tight, pulling pretty hard. Depending on PP (personal preference) some players like their skates tighter, looser, etc. I myself like the laces closest to the toe as tight as possible through the mid-foot, and then loser were the boot cuts upward and the ankle, allowing for better forward flex. Re-tying a skate isn't a bad thing if they are uncomfortable/not performing well.

P.S. Seeing that you are new to hockey, are you sure your skates really fit?

Three responses in the time I took to type that...

I'm guessing by 'properley' it all depends on the individual and their preferences. I personally like my skates looser at the bottom and tight at the top (opposite to how i like my women :P ).

Try different ways to see whats best for you

I cleaned up some of the foolishness, and since lacing/tying has been discussed before. We'll close this one and the OP can carry on an old thread if he still needs help.
