Stick'um damaging palms?

Recommended Posts

I really dislike Stick'um.

However, a lot of the sticks i like have Stick'um, like the Vapor XXV.

Does Stick'um damage your glove palms?

The XXV is one of my favorite all-time sticks, and I'm on my second one now. I have been on the ice probably 200+ times with one in my hands, and My warrior dolo gloves are only showing a small hole on the top hand. Maybe has something to do with your tape or palms?

Stick'um doesn't damage your palms, I had my vapor xx for two years using white tape on the handle as well, no holes on either glove

Thanks for the feedback.

So i shouldn't have a problem with my Eagle x72's MSH2 with MSH1 overlay palms degenerating because of the stick'um?

Also, it is a "light" stick'um on the XXV.

Is it easy to slide your hand from stick handling position to shooting with out resistance due to the stick'um?

Thanks for the help, i don't get a chance to compare all these thing at a store, they don't carry that much.

If you have a problem with stick'em grip take a heat gun to it. When its hot rub it with a cloth and it comes right off.

lol That really works?

Just a couple question regarding this method:

Have you done that before? Is it a real painstaking process, meaning is it difficult?

And does it remove the paint underneath?

Would a hair dryer do it?

I have my eye on a nice Vapor XX.

How does it compare in weight and balance to the newer Vapor XXV?

The XX was really balanced but it was a tad heavy on the blade side, that being said, it was possibly the best stick I have ever owned and I will recommend buying it if you can still get one.

Yes, I've done it before. No, it was very easy only took me 10 minutes. No, it doesn't take the paint off and I have never tried using a hair dryer before just a heatgun.

Hmm.

I don't own a heat gun.

Out of curiosity, what heat gun do you personally use? I see a lot of them on google, not sure which would be appropriate for use on a composite hockey stick.

my mom was a pretty avid scrapbooker for a while so she had an embossing gun laying around the house that was perfect for pulling blades and melting grip.

I have a paint remover gun that was fifteen bucks at Lowe's, works like a charm. That's what my LHS said would be the best.

So i don't do this wrong and don't damage my stick...

What temperature do you use?

Can i have a step by step instructions on the process?

Thanks :D

You could also try just using the stick for more than 5 minutes. I've been using vapors for a while with the stickumm grip and have noticed that the grip wears off after only a few skates with it. It's like a thin layer of saran wrap.
