Itech X200 Recon

Recommended Posts

bump. i'm seriously considering getting this. i'm currently using the oakley visor/cage combo and looking to change. Should I go with the recon, the fx-50 or stay with the oakley? fwiw, the oakley fogs on me and it's too heavy to stay off my face when i'm between shifts.

I'm waiting for mine to arrive, i'll let you know how it performs as soon as i get to use it.

:D

Sweet! They finally got it in.

"It shall be mine, oh yes, it shall be mine"

rather than ask a bunch a guys who tell you it " looks weak " or that the FX50 is better, but still sucks- just ask me ( since you know... i kind of spend more time around some of this product lol! ). there were reasons for everything we did on that thing. looks paintball??? i can see the influence, but it is way more functional. of all these types of products it's hard to offer something that everybody is going to like the look of-- most people have either used a cage of a half shield. products of this nature don't have pro exposure, so they are not widely exposed or perhaps accepted. all these facial products have to pass extremely stringent testing so while one person may say it " looks weak " i am not sure that falls into any of the certification standards. the FX-50 was bottom heavy and caused helmets to tilt forward, so the X200 was designed to stay light and not suffer from the tilting. the fastening system works much better/smoothly. it uses the same system as the 50, but most 50s i ever tried to swap a shield out on was a little more difficult than it should have been. the X200 is easier no doubt. the redundancy of using the same system DX100 means you will be able to find a shield in a couple years when you need one-- can anyone say Z-Leader??? sucks for those guys. i have even seen some guys use it without the snap in visor-- not advised if you are looking for eye protection, but you get the point. most guys that don't like this offering are generally guys that would not use this type of product anyway. my gut reaction when i first saw this product was mixed, but when i spent more time around it i could definitely see the advantages of it. i don't see many other competitors stepping up in this category. you get lighter full facial protection with the optical clarity that compound curves of our shields offer. for what it is i think it's a pretty solid piece.

Good insight.

When i first heard of this thing, in Hockey News' yearly equipment review, i instantly saw what the advantages were going to be…

-The full plastic obviously means it is lighter then a metal cage.

-The nose cut means it avoids the fogging problems of the older Itech full shields. Because yo uare not breathing directly onto the shield.

-The optically correct visor. No distortion.

-And the angled "bars" at the bottom means that vision looking down will be less obstructed.

I personally like the look of it. It has a functional look.

I ordered one as soon as it became available, I've been looking forward to using this thing since i read about it many months ago.

BTW Zac, I'm loving that Mission stick! More shops really should start carrying Mission sticks. The Fuel Ti is on par if not better then most of the sticks out there.

Zac

Are the FX-50 , DX100, X100, X200 Lenses interchangeable?

Zac,

I've been wearing the Concept II DLX for about 5-6 years now and I was thinking about going to the Recon. What are the main advantages I'd pick up? Specifically, is it going to be cooler/better ventilated than the Concept II?

Thanks.

pretty much everything that has been discussed:

Compound Curve = Better Vision/Optical Clarity

Interchangeable Visors

Better Line of Sight

Better Ventilation

I just got my X200 Recon today.

Very nice.

Very light.

Vision is great through it. I wear contacts when i play, but even just wearing my glasses while looking through the shield there is ZERO distortion. Vision is perfect no matter what direction you look.

Great quality, but that is to be expected from Itech.

Yet another great product by the Mission/Itech crew.
