The 4500 is essentially the same helmet. Just NBH branded instead of Nike. I would have to imagine if you were able to find one of these it is probably nearing the end of it's HECC certification.

hockey giant had a bunch of old Nike stuff on clearance a couple of months ago. you might call and see if they have any more of it available.

All are the same helmet, except the NBH updated the shell slightly to prevent the crack that a lot of the older helmets had by the screws behind the ears. They've also added a small ridge to the top and a small red pad under the main VN at the top.

I do, however, feel that the shell updates changed the sizing somewhat. I have an XL Bauer 4000 that fits like a charm and have tried XL NBH that my head was swimming in and one that I couldn't get on my head.

This may be a question with an obvious answer, but I'll ask it anyways. My Bauer 4000 has those cracks by the screws behind the ears you mentioned. Is that a definite indication to replace the helmet, or does it not significantly affect the structural integrity of the helmet?

thanks for the replys but i am looking specifically for a nike 0004 in navy. i am aware that it is the same as the 4000/4500. thanks guys

My 4000 got the crack and I went with a new bucket within a month of noticing it. My buddy's cracked and he Gorilla glued it.

The certification is void, but if it poses any real danger I'm not sure.
