Punch/Stretch One95s?

Recommended Posts

I'm just wondering if the One95s can be stretched lengthwise like most other skates. I've decided mine are 1/4 to 1/2 size too small. My toes are just too curled up, it's not comfortable. Can the boot be stretched that much? Will it affect the way the skates fit at the moment? Thanks.

How long have you had them? and how many skate sessions? Because in time most heal cups will give you some more room as you skate. Some NHL'er and others skate with curled toes, its an aquired taste.

I guess another quick question is how did the skates fit when you bought them from LHS - did not your toes curl when walking around the store with $699 skates? , and did you take "others" advise of getting 1/2 size lower than the Vapor XXXX fit.

When I got them, I had a feeling they might be a half size too small. However, they were an unused pair from a buddy of mine who plays college hockey in the US, so I figured I'd try them anyways. As far as the curled toes go, I'm not a big fan of it, particularly with the amount of curl I have happening right now.

yea you will have to bring them to LHS repair section, they can stretch them overnight prolly up to 1/2 size, they will use

heat and pressue - the good ole fasion way. Should not be much of a problem for an expert at a LHS - they maybe charge

you about $30.

Ok, that sounds good. I'm assuming I'd need to rebake after as the heel pocket will be wrecked?

Prolly a good idea to get it rebaked after LHS does manipulation - they might throw that in for free....but they use state of art tools with special backstop for heal cup, that is shaped like a heal cup so pressue gets evened out - and heal cup usually don't get wrecked - that being said I think a rebake is always in order when you change something in the skate ( i.e. new insole, different socks, streach ect... ) because I steach lenghtwise will also make skate slightly more narrow, thus rebake is in order to accomidate

the new width....

Well the guy I talked to on the phone at Cyclone Taylor here in Vancouver said he probably couldn't do it, but that was also the guy who answered the phone and not someone back in the work room so who knows if that's the truth.

Also, I called Scoff's and they said they didn't think I could get 1/4 size stretch. He says the composite sole wouldn't allow for it. Anyone else have experience with this?

They way these skates are made today, with so much composite material, traditional methods have gone out the window. I would say your best bet before you destroy the skates, is to put them on eBay, then either get anther pair, or get some customs with 1/4 sizing. I had the same problem with my one95s, but before I skated on them, I walked around the house in them, and decided that they were just a 1/2 size too small. This was a pair of skates that were comped to me, so if I had paid for them, I would have for sure checked out the sizing first. Good luck!
