RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted August 27, 2008 That's not to say all of that stuff is contaminated. They are just being Uber-cautious. I ate a package of those pre-cooked/pre-seasoned chicken strips last weekend (before they were on the recall list).I'm not overly concerned...but I have a second package in the fridge that will probably find their way to the garbage (just to be safe)
chef_ducky 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2008 Take them back to the store for a refund!

top_shelf_24 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2008 yea i happen to work in a grocery store im Markham, a suburb of toronto and its been pretty nuts. We spent all of sunday pulling shit off the shelves just from the precautions list, i do know that 3 of the 5 products which actually had the bacteria found in it were schneider's pre-packed shaved meats, not that it would matter because they are prettymuch impossible to find right now in any place other than a hole in the wall gas station. People have been shying away from brands that dont even have any connection to maple leaf like Brandt, Pillers and Burns. Apparently there are some products from burns that you should look out for, according to that list. If your local grocers have taken protocalls similar to ours, you need not worry what you buy as it will already have been pulled of the shelves. I wish the best of health to all of you and sure hope this thing cleans up quickly. It really is a shame as maple leaf was one of the leading food industries in Canada and now they suffer a blow like this
D3nZ 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2008 My aunt works for Maple Leaf in the costumer services department and she has apparently been working till 6 AM on some days answering calls and concerns. She is based in Toronto and says that right now it's hell over there at the plant.
RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted August 28, 2008 Buy Maple Leaf stock now....it's cheap, and they'll rebound.Watching the CEO do those commercials/PSA's is really hard. You can tell how awful he feels and how personally he is taking this.
chef_ducky 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2008 That is a good idea. Makes sense. You're only risking the fact that the money they will lose on lawsuits! Those commercials are pretty tough to watch.
