CCM Tack fit

Recommended Posts

Anybody know if any skates that have the same fit as the tacks? The only pro shop we have only carries a few low end Bauers, and my son loves the fit of the Tacks. Thanks

RBK's are about as close as you are going to get....just about identical.

yep. RBK's are identical.

i wore tacks my whole life, just came out of a pair of rbks.

recently bought a pair of one95's, and to be honest, i have had no problems with them other than the neutral stance, but nothing a little profiling didnt take care of.

RBK's are definitely not identical. The RBK's fit both wider and deeper when compared to the pretty shallow Tacks. The RBK is built for a high volume foot. This means that it will fit best on players who have a wide and thick foot. The heel pocket is significantly wider on the RBK's as well. A proper heel lock is crucial, so make sure he dosn't get any heel slippage if you decide to go with the RBK's.

Has he tried on last years CCM Vectors?

He tried the Vectors when the first came out but not any of the newer ones.

Seriously? I'm a Tacks skater myself. I used a pair of 2006 Vector 4.0 inline skates and they killed my feet. Next year when I had a couple of pairs of Tacks converted, there was noticeably more room in the mid-foot and toe box.

*sigh*

You know, I want innovation and progress as much as anyone, but it seems like everytime I find something I like, someone has to come along and kill it off in favor of something new. That being said, I briefly had a pair of 2006 RBK 9K Pumps and they fit pretty close to the Tacks, so perhaps Reeboks are the solution, but I'll have to try on a few pairs to be sure.

The new NikeBauer Supreme line doesn't fit too bad either, but unfortunately, Bauer's made it abundantly clear they don't care about inline hockey judging by the skates they've cranked out. Perhaps the acquisition of Mission will change things?

I went from a few rounds of the Pro Tack, to the Vector 10.0, and I'm now in the 06-07 RBK 9k. I'd agree that the depth between the Tack and Vector is pretty similar, but as far as width goes, I'd say the Tack is closer to the RBK line. I had to go from a D-width Tack to an E-width Vector when I made that initial switch, and the fit was very close. Now that I'm in the 9k, I'm back to a D, but the boot is definitely deeper when the bladder isn't inflated.
