little help with what skates to choose

Recommended Posts

so i know this is personal choice but im debating between the RBK 9k and the ccm vector 10.0. i have had a ccm 652 tacks boot for the past like 5 years and a season and a half ago i switched over to the RBK cowlings. i noticed that the 10.0's have a decently tall tongue for a goalie skate and i was wondering if you guys have heard anything about good's and bad's of each skate. i have tried both on and they feel pretty similar but more advice never hurts.. thanks

I've had the 9k's for more than 3 yrs and for me they've been great. Fit's great, performance is great. I really like the Thrust steel. These skates are so light. I have a normal foot, was in CCM 652's before these. The 10.0 are very similar in construction and features, they have the lightened scalloped steel instead of the Thrusts. N o ankle pump like the RBKs, but still a nice skate. So whatever one fits you better, I'd go with but if they both fit good, I'd give the edge to the RBKs.

If the Vectors fit you better (different heel-shape than the RBKs), you could always ask the shop to swap the scalloped V10.0 steel for the RBK 9K 'Thrust' blades. I'm in total agreement with jimmy - best goalie steel ever, though the One95 isn't far behind, and Step could be competing if their prices weren't astronomical.

The 9K is the best goalie skate. I've had mine for nearly 3 years now, put 800,000 miles on the and they're still holding pretty well. I've gone through a couple runners naturally, but that's why I bought them in the first place. I'll never wear another skate. You'll be very satisfied with the 9K's :D

The one95 and one75 steel is excellent as well. As for STEP, I don't have a clue about their pricing and how they figured that out. Good steel and wicked tall which makes it heavy.

thank you for all the help with this,

i think im gonna up goin with the 10.0 with the thruster steel... biggest reason being the tongue. the 10.0s did feel a little bit better to me to, but the tongue on the rbk was a little to long and stiff for me, i just wasn't similar enough to my warn out 652 tongue.

i think they are both great skates though. thruster blades are the best thing to happen to goalie skates in a long while
