Not as serious as you'd think. Somebody with a clean background check and completed a shooting course could get one just for the reason of working in Lawrence to have as self-defense.

yeah. its not hard to get one if you have a clean background. a few courses and you have a gun and a licence in no time

Its hard to get one for "all legal purposes". It is easy to get one to just go hunting or to the shooting range. A lot depends on your town's chief of police's attitude.

If you are really from Boston, you should know you have almost NO chance of getting a LTC there!

THis is all getting a little off topic, but getting a LTC in massachusetts IS possible. Obviously, you need to be 21. If you are a teenager, you need to keep your nose clean. No midnight trips for mom and dad to the police station! One DUI in Mass. and you can kiss your future chances bye bye--as the max penalty (2 1/2 years prison in Mass) for DUI puts it into the realm of being a "felony" in the fed's eyes. So keep the frosties out of the trunk! Going to a party? Leave the car keys at home, have your friends drive! Remember, there is no blood alcohol limit if you are under 21--blowing a 0.02 is DUI technically, and that might be 1/2 of a can of beer for a smaller guy.

I should have clarified, assuming you are over 21, have a clean record and have completed shooting classes, it is not entirely difficult to obtain a LTC if you live or frequently work in dangerous areas.

Off topic, but when are we having a New England MSH skate? I'd love to get together and do one sometime.

There could always be an unofficial NE MSH skate, ie. a bunch of NE MSHer's gathering for a skate and some sodas. Get to work on that, let us know the details.

Pure Hockey is a nice HS. I haven't been to any of them in MA, only to the one in RI. The guys at the shop in RI are nice and the store is huge.

Pure HOckey in Braintree is about 15mins I believe tht there are ones in Malborough(sp?) and Danvers all go under purehockey.com. the best LHS in my opnion is Sports Etc. in Arlington (for a goalie) which aprox 40mins. or so depending on where you are (sportsetc.net)
