thanks guys, was able to trasfer but i'm having a problem with messenger for mac. i only get some of the messages sent to me. i can't have a conversation because not all the messages are getting to me. any idea what this would be from?

Had a windows laptop doing that, intermittent network signal drops on the system. If you're wired IDK, but if you're wireless try changing the sub-frequency on the router. Worked for me, might and probably is a different problem, but this fix takes 20 seconds in your router settings to try out.
