Helmet: RBK 6K or 8K

Recommended Posts

What do you guys think? I love the look of the RBK Helmets. What is the main difference other than you can get the 6K for 100 with a cage and the cheapest i've seen the 8K is 110 w/o a cage

Other than the fact they don't fit many people? I think the Reebok buckets look like trash. They should have changed the design of the 6 and 4k to reflect the fact they don't have a subshell instead of looking like cheap 8ks.

If they fit you, go with what you need more. If you need a cage, get the 6k. If you have a cage and really want the 8k, get it.

i strongly disagree. and i think the rbk lid is the best looking lid out. its extremely lightweight and my 8k fits my head perfect. and i know alllot of people with them so i guess they fit quite a few people. check around ebay. i got a barely used 8k with an oakley visor for 80 bucks

I couldn't get the RBK helmets to fit eventhough I liked the look of them...I tried the 8K with the microdial and still did not get the fit I really wanted. I spent another $40 and went with the Bauer 9500 that I felt I got a better fit with.

Try on the RBK's and make sure you get a good fit. Another nice option if you don't mind the vinyl nitrile liner is the Easton S9. It's a great helmet for the money. Or if you want to stick with the EPP liner the Easton S17 is another good helmet for $20 more.

and you will...I did...once I put it on nothing else felt quite the same...lol

If you got a good fit with the 8K and can get it for $80 thats a sweet deal!!!!

DO IT!!! and don't try the 9500...or else

If you do decide to go with the 8k great price here $80.00

cheapest i have ever seen them

as most sales go there are limited sizes and colors (eggplant is sweet...lol)...good luck!!!

They have all the colors in medium i wouldn't quite call that limited and i have the midnight blue and its much closer to black then the picture shows

I was thinking traditional colors (white and black) and sizes over medium...if you want a funky color and have a small head it's a great deal...ohh yea like I said limited sizes and colors...

well these are non stand colors which some people like and the midnight blue is basically black and they had Large before but i would say 2 out of 3 senior sizes are in stock so that's not limited

in my opinion the 8k and the 6 k are the exact same minus the dial, the dial doesnt do anything for me at all. i have 3 8ks. one i got off the monkey in the royal blue, got one from work with free employee store credit, and one in a trade for some elbow pads. if i didnt get thoes deals i would defintaly go with the 6k to save the money. the rbk helmets arent very popular around here either but its the only helmet that i find comfortable and its so damn light, feels like nothing is on my head.

I've had 2 8k helmets, I have a large head and they are very comfortable for me. The problem I keep having is with the gray pads on the inside glued to the EPP liner. Some of the the pads have come unglued and fallen out. Maybe just a re-glue would work, but I feel if you're spending that much on a helmet you shouldn't have that problem. My LHS took care of me on both helmets. It happened with both of them so I ended getting an Easton S9. Happy so far with the S9.

Had both the 8k and the 6k, both with cages, and not only is the 6k cheaper, but beter IMO..

Basically the only difference is that the 8k has the microdial, and half the time it breaks...lol

I'm definately going to buy a new 6k to replace my 8k and a 4k to replace my ref hhelmet...

i love reebok helmets, and they look pretty good imo...id suggest them to everyone

I just bought the 6k and could not be happier. I wore Bauer up untill this year and they the always felt ok but a little tight on the side. I tried both the 6k and 8k on the 6k seemed like a nicer fit for me.

anyone know how this helmet preforms with an itech RBE cage? i've been using itech cages for a while but haven't seen any 8k setups with the itech cage. im deciding between the itech and the ccm/jofa 480. any thoughts would be appreciated.

edit: pics would be nice too.

I paired a Medium 8K with both a Large RBE 908, and a Large Jofa 480. Both of the size pairings mated to the helmet fine and fit well.

I prefer the 480 due to the horizontal wire position: The 908 had a horizontal wire that seem to lie right in my "normal" line of sight, while the 480 seemed to be open in my normal line of sight. Both were mounted witht he clips above the screws.
