Skates for Wide/Flat Feet

Recommended Posts

I have EEE width feet, and pretty much every skate I have owned has been painful until I randomly tried something different. (Qualifier - I have not had access to a "skate bake" and have been reluctant to do it at home and screw it up).

Try standing up and tying your skates. I stand and put a good part of my weight down on the foot/skate that I'm tying before tightening it up. For me, it has the effect of squashing my foot out, as if I were standing or striding. My foot widens noticeably when I put weight down on it. I stand with weight on the foot as I tighten the bottom 2/3 to 3/4 of the skate, and then tie the top 3 eyelets or so while sitting. It has almost totally taken the pain away for me.
