As a potential R&D question here from Revision, how many of you and players that you know are currently using micro-bearing wheels???

Any responses are much appreciated.

Thank You,

A fairly small amount to be honest. Maybe 3/16 guys on my team use 'em.

The only people i know who currently(or have in the past) only use Mini bearings because they came stock on the skates. Once those wheels went bad, usually very quickly, they all switched back to standard.

I'd say the reason for it is quite simply, lack of quality wheels available for them. Lets be honest, the Fuzions,DynastyII, and Zero-G are garbage. They wouldn't even interest me if they sold for half(Zero-G at a quarter) of the price. MB816 is better, but the hub crackings in the past have really driven people away.

Agree with the above... most guys/gals start off with them as stock wheels. There are only a handful who would continue to use them after that.

i love my mini bearings over my swiss regulars. But the only problem is availibility. If some company made a wheel as good as rink rat MB-816 then id buy it.

Use standard bearings instead! My micros busted in about four months.

And I agree with whoever said Fuzions are garbage. Overpriced with a life span of a few quality sessions. I'm finding my Hypers (80 mm) that I bought for $1 per wheel are lasting and lasting and lasting!

they only break because people dont keep up with them. If you do regular bearing maintnence they will last a while. Which means washing\lubing them monthly. I do that every 2 weeks though.

Ive been using micros for years. In my mind its similar to the tapered blade / standard blade scenario. There was a while just a few years ago when tapered blades were pretty hard to find and options were limited, now every company makes atleast one. Hopefully the same will be true of mini core wheels

If there were move a supply there might be a greater demand. Finding tapered blades if we continue that analogy at least in this area are still hard to come by as are high end wheels, let alone micro bearing

There is also the dogma that microbearing break easier than standard to be overcome

I have wanted a Revision micro for years but keep the price reasonable around $8-$9 otherwise Revision is wasting its time IMHO

I think min-bearings just aren't worth it for most people. The average player isn't going to see enough benefit to make it worth their time to buy new wheels, bearings, and spacers.

(I know this isn't really what you asked, but I started thinking about it, so here it is...) Instead of putting money into r&d for mini-bearing wheels, I think revision should put more into advertising and dispersement. I've heard pretty good things about your product, but it seems like rink rats and hyper control such a share of the market that most people don't know much about revision, and revision is hard to find in stores.

Wheels have the potential to have a giant impact on one's game; it's amazing to me how many guys I see skating with garbage wheels and $100 gloves.

Hope all of you had a happy holiday season and wish you all a Happy New Year.

Thank you for the feedback and the kind words.

If we do make a mini-bearing wheel the pricing would not vary from our 608 wheel versions.

In regards to advertising, we are always weighing the cost of print ads and sponsorships vs. the size of the market and the expected result. We are always willing to listen and consider every marketing opportunity. I believe as our product line and revenue expand, along with hopefully the growth of our great sport you will see more advertising of our brand.

Regards,

Nabeel Gerges
