Vapor vs. Supreme lineup

Recommended Posts

I've done some research both on here and bauers site, But I wanted to get people opinions who've used them personally. I'm using 2 piece sticks right now but want to make the switch to ops again and give it a go, but I want the transition from wood blade to composite a little easier. NBauer states that the vapors are better for feel and that the supreme is more of a power stick, my question is are the blades really that different and what would you suggest to try. I'm choosing Bauer because they're the most stocked stick around here with the most curve, flex and grip options and I'm leaning towards the XXII/XXV or the supreme 75, as I don't really need the top of the line sticks for what I'm playing right now. Thanks for any advice

Vapors are tapered shafts with a low kick point.

Better for quick wrist and snap shots.

The shafts feel smaller in your hands. Not as clunky.

Supremes are standard shafts with a mid flex point.

Better for slap shots.

The shafts are a little more clunky feeling then the Vapor shafts.

Also, make sure you like stick 'um grip coating. Because most of Bauer's mid-lower end models come with stick 'um.

im not sure if the vapor xxv has foam inside the blade like the xxxx but if so it will feel different than the one90 stick...which doesnt have foam in the blade. The one90 has a veryyy stiff blade.

The XXV does have the foam in the blade, i had my blade stepped on once.

And I don't agree with the shaft "clunkiness", if anything, the one90/95 shaft feels better in my hands than the XXv/XXXX. The vapor does have slightly more rounded corners though.

The sidewalls on the Vapor line are more concave. Haven't held the new One*5 sticks, but the One70 was pretty rounded compared to the One90. I did not like the One70 at all.

Yeah I thought as much as the performances, and yes that's why I'm more interested in them, I love grip and the sticks are easiy to come by here so I can stick with something for a while. I was more wondering how different the blades are, interested to know if there is foam in the XXV or the XXII because on their site the blades have the same description. thanks for all the help so far, I'm getting into flexier sticks because I dont take too many slappers anymore so I'm leaning towards the vapor

From what i have come to learn based on other people's experiences (i my self have never used Bauer sticks on the ice, i held all of them and examined all of them in my search for the best stick for me) the Vapor XXV is probably the best value.

Since you say you don't take as many slappers as you do wrist shots. I hear nothing but great things about the Vapor XXV. I myself would have gotten one, if it were available without the stick 'um. I dislike stick 'um. It's all personal preference.

But as you said, you like wristers, and you like stick' um.

Vapor XXV goes for $145 senior. Lowest flex in senior is 77 flex.

Vapor XXV intermediate goes for $125. And is 67 flex.

XXV has the foam core in the blade.

Intermediate shafts are only slightly smaller in diameter. But they use senior blades. And they are perfect length if you are about 5'11"

yeah I'm using an 85 dolo shaft right now and its just too small in diameter and feels a little stiff, probably gonna try a 77. thats what I was leaning towards, the XXV and the XXII felt similar in my hands but I'm sure the XXV is the better stick. Yeah I'm surprised at the way Bauer produces sticks in regards to grip, and all the low end supreme sticks are clear, they should mix it up. Thanks for the advice

I have been using a Supreme One75 lately, 77 flex cut to 84, Malkin pattern. I really, really like the feel of it (though I freely admit that I actually prefer the feel of a composite stick to a wood one, which seems to be unpopular around here). It's the first time I'd had a stick with grip on the shaft, but I actually don't really notice it. I have not used a Vapor stick so I can't compare the two, but I can say that I have nothing at all negative to say about the Supreme One75 and would recommend it to anyone.

Have you tried the One70 or One90 in comparison?

Not actually on the ice, no.
