Wheel rub

Recommended Posts

My second wheel on both of my skates is rubbing on the bottom of the boot. Can this be fixed by simply putting a smaller wheel in that position or is there a bigger issue? Will having a different size wheel there affect the skate feel or agility? Any reccomendations. I will look at wheel size in a few minutes and then edit the post if that helps. The Wheels are 76mm TOUR Power-Train. Pretty entry level stuff. Wheel is 76mm Labeda Gyro clear with nor durometer rating.

are these wheels the stock wheels that came with the skates? if not what were the original type? i really cant see how having softer wheels would cause it to rub...same size wheels as hards, just make more contact with the ground.

also, the shape of the wheel from vendor to vendor changes a lot. Labeda wheels tend to be more rounded, and Rink Rats tend to be more oval.

They are stock wheels. My other skates are Bauers with Tuuk chassis and the two wheels in the front are smaller then the two back wheels. Those do not rub and I was thinking and just changing wheels and using the other skates but I still want to solve the rubbing problem. Would a mix and match of sizes help or just mess up the handling?

Both pairs of skates are fairly entry level. I am also a bigger guy. 6' 200 lbs. I think the wheels that came with the skates are 76A. The other skates have 82A but do not grab the sport court that I play on. Its like playing on ice without edges. Its a little scary actually.

The only way you could reasonable change the wheel sizes to definatly prevent the rubbing would be dropping to all 72's (otherwise you would be looking at finding <70mm wheels...) is the wheel actually having a large effect on how you play or is it just mildly annoying? You could always just lightly dremmel/file the spot that it's rubbing until it spins freely
