back to regular hi-lo

Recommended Posts

i've been skating on a pair of mission soldier for about 6 months and i don't feel as confindent as i'm used to with my old nike skates whith regular hi-lo (maneurability, stoping, turning, transicions). Also, I can't appreciate the high-end speed everyone's talking about, maybe cause here in Spain the courts don't go further the 50 meters length.

So, i'm considering to sell the new mission skates and buying new wheels for my old skates......

Anybody there, likes the regular hi-lo more than the vanguard chassis?

I totally understand ur problem, I've been skating on mission helium 1500's and now that they are all torn apart its time to get new skates, but with all the skates out there I dont like any of them because of the new hi-low (76-80) i cant get used to it. So, the best thing I found to is to get the old Hi-low chassis (72-80) and have someone rivet them on to your new skates. Thats what I did and I've had no problems since.

Thanks man, that's what i'am going to do. Maybe i'll try to get another hi-lo chassis, because the ones i've got, are a little heavy.

I've been skating on the mission boss skates and I feel the same way as you do. Actually I feel faster on the old hi-lo's. If I can find an old style hi-lo frame to fit on my nike flexlite 12's i'm gonna jump on them quick.

i've just ordered a new pair of NikeBauer XXVR, so i'm going back to hi-lo very soon!

Don't forget the one-up frame has a 76mm wheel on the back, not sure if you can still fit an 80mm wheel in the back like when they had the 78mm back, someone else that has them might be able to inform a bit more.

two of my teammates has them, and yes, they have an 80 mm wheel in the back..... but both of them has the 2008 model......

they must fit 80's then :) it's just most frames run with only tiny gaps between wheels on the frame, they must purposefully leave the gap for those who don't want the rocker

NBH had to do that to prevent infringing on Mission's patented Hilo (bi-plane chassis). The chassis that came with the NBH skates were essentially hilos as well, but with the "One Up" you basically were sold skates that had a 72-72-80-78 config. I do remember them also packaging an additional 2 80mm wheels in each box just in case you wanted to swap the rear wheels to 80mm.

Looking at a big picture of these skates, i can see a really big gap between the 2 back wheels, so i think the 80 mm wheel will fit perfect inthere.

i hope so..... if they don't fit, my nightmare will start again, trying to adjust myself to a new setup.

I've bought this model because it has the best chassis on nikebauer skates, so i can put this frames on another boot when these become useless

I have a set of NBH Supreme Accel Lites and they came with a ONE UP set up that was 72-72-80-78. I know for sure that they when you put an 80mm wheel in back that they were then a flat HiLo set up. Per comments from Bender...they may have switched to a 72-72-80-76...if that's the case, then disregard my post. Good luck.

I like the old Hi-lo way better than vanguard and sprungs, looking for a set of small chassis from the old mission HE 10,000 line

in the hockeyworld website i've seen they have redstar e-frames small size on sale. $49.99. I didn't buy them because they just don't ship to Spain.(only U.S. and Canada) Don't know how they perform, but i've seen a lot of people in this site, using them on their ice/inline conversions.

I just picked up a pair of Mission Boss skates and as much as I like them I feel like I'm back on my heels on these compared to the old Hi-Lo setup. My idea was to add 4mm heel lifts so as to match the old height difference between the front and back wheels.

Has anyone done this or know if this would give me the correct pitch I'm looking for? In my head it sounds good but I'm not sure if there are any other factors I'm not taking into account.

My thought was that since the old hi-lo chassis had 72mm wheels in the front and 80mm wheels in back (8mm difference) and the Vanguard chassis have 76mm and 80mm (4mm difference), I would only have to add another 4mm to get that original 8mm difference. I'm not sure if that's how the proper pitch is determined though. I guess I'll just have to play around with it.

Have you tried the 76768080 yet? Im not sure that you would notice such a difference after a while of skating, I didnt really notice a difference from my hilo to tri-di chassis.
