Graf 703 to NBH XXV(Shift)

Recommended Posts

Hi

I was just wondering what the difference in fit is going from the 703s to XXV. the 703s i have are not deep enough for me i find and have had some pain in my arches. and I've found a pair of Shift and from my understanding they are an SMU of the XXV, for a pretty good price so might give them a try. any info would be helpful.

thanks!

Hi,

I'm using the shift now for 1.5 year. If I remember right it is a bit better quality than the XXV. (hydrophobic liner??)

This line of Vapor is a bit roomier than the previous version.

I have thick wide feet and can never put my foot into a XX or XXX. But surprisingly I feel quite comfy in this Vapor Shift. I tried the Vapor XXXX too but it has more padding inside so make it less roomy.

Give it a try, I believe it must be deeper than the Graf 703 which is narrow and shallow.

The XXV is definitely a wider and deeper boot by far than the 703. It has a looser fit overall but is still extremely responsive on the ice. My only concern is your going from a very forward agressive contour or profile, to a more backwards, on your heel profile, which is one of the hardest adjustments to make with hockey skates. Be ready to fall back on your fanny a lot for the first few outings until you adjust to the stance of the Nike/Bauer skate. The Nike/Bauer Shift SMU skate is roughly the same quality as the XXV's (which by the way do have the hydrophobic liner) so either skate would be a great selection. It's the XXII's and models below it that don't sport the hydrophobic liner, they have the fabric type liners.

thanks for the responses. i ended up picking them up. $170 cdn so i figure i can't go wrong. i've used lightspeed holders and loved them. since i've gotten the grafs i never really liked the cobra holders and wanted to switch them. hopefully these xxv work out well.
