Easton S15 Skates Problem

Recommended Posts

First of all I did do a search regarding my problem but I didn't really come up with anything, so I want to thank everyone in advance for the help and advice. So I have a pair of S15 and I skated with them for 2 weeks now. My problem is that when I go to cut and stop I feel my feet bounce and kind of skip a bit. I've heard that this is due to the Easton RBII holder and parabolic steel. It's kind of annoying that to have this happen. I'm thinking about taking the RBII off and putting my TUUK LSII on there, is this a good idea and will it help me solve my problem? Also will changing from the RBII to LSII change the pitch and feel of the skates? Thanks all again for the help.

Im no expert by any stretch of the imagination, and what I do know, I learned here. I had the same skate, and the hlder/steel are just fine. I think more knowledgeable people here will tell you it is how your steel is sharpened. Perhaps changing the hollow or something. I think changing the holder/steel will be a waste of time and money. But I would wait for an opinion from JR to be safe.

Well I already have the LSII steel and holder and I get hooked up from one of my LHS and they do it for free for me. I spoke with a few people with the same skates and they have complaints about the steel and holder as well. Hopefully others can shed some light on the problem and solution

There is nothing wrong with the RBII holder. You should find out if it is the hollow or something before you switch. Sounds like your skates are catching because the hollow is too deep. JR advised me not to switch my RBII out on my S15 for the LS2 because you have to drill new holes, and that isnt worth the risk if the holders you have now are perfectly fine. But it ssems you already have your course of action planned out.

I had the same issue - provided that you didn't change your hollow & know how to apply pressure in your stops & if you're a heavy guy the issue is most definitely parabolic steel - JR has commented on this quite a few times

you can literaly bend the steel with your fingers - Easton was suggesting it'd allow for tighter turns - not sure about that, but it definitely causes chatting on hard stops.

so I just swapped RBII to LS2 with solid steel - the reason for a holder change was because I wanted the holder to be stiffer as well.

having that said the problem can be solved by swapping the steel only
