bobovski 1 Report post Posted January 31, 2009 Does anyone have any information or opinions about senior/beer leagues in or near Portland, Oregon? I've done a quick Google perusal, and ice looks scarce. Am I mistaken?
ralfonso 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2009 The best place to play is the Sherwood Ice Arena http://www.sherwoodicearena.com/. There is also Valley in Beaverton, which has terrible ice http://valleyicearena.com/ and Mountain View in Vancouver, WA http://www.mtviewice.com/
kosydar 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2009 Sherwood is easily the nicest rink, but Valley is my favorite. Its really old school, and there is something about playing in there that I like much more than any of the other Portland rinks.
bobovski 1 Report post Posted January 31, 2009 Thanks for the responses. I had found Valley's website, but not Sherwood's. I appreciate the input.
napsy 1 Report post Posted February 1, 2009 how are the beer leagues out there? is one rink better than the others in terms of competition? i might be moving to portland this summer.
Griff 2 Report post Posted February 2, 2009 I've got a couple of buddies that play mens league at the sherwood rink. Personally I love valley, old school and the owner is a hockey institution. I haven't been back for a few years but if you're good the summer elite league at Valley is a great time.
bobovski 1 Report post Posted June 28, 2009 Bumped for any more info about beer leagues at any of the three arenas listed in this thread. I will be moving to Portland in August and would like to play in a *fun*, sort-of-competitive beer league.
BigT 4 Report post Posted June 28, 2009 Sherwood is definately the nicest, followed by Mt. View..still gotta love Valley tho..
peter54 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2009 Yeah, check out Sherwood for sure. I played in the Gold (highest league) for a few years and it's pretty fun. The competition is decent as well and there aren't too many meat heads out there, which is always a plus.
