Law Goalie 147 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 No, but they did make players wear caps on their tube-skates after a few guys got impaled.They're going to eliminate no-touch icing because of injuries.I think the real issue is people being thrown down at the end of fights; I've rarely seen guys seriously hurt as a result of a punch. Gretzky's proposed rule would take care of that. It's only been in the last 5 or so years that announcers began to declare the winners of fights based on take-downs, which seems to me (with no stats to back it up) to have hugely increased the number and severity of take-downs in fights. W.Heinle 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 IMHO what they should get rid of is the staged fights and goons and that could be achieved very easily.For each fight you get a game ejection and an increasing suspension. First fight you get 1 game, 2nd fight 2 games, 3rd ... 4games, etc.At the beginning of each season you get half your fights annuled.I.e. the guy who gets into 1 fight each year, gets a fresh start each year. If you had 2 fight you start at 1 etc.That will take care of the goons, but won't affect the skilled player who gets into the occasional fight. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

If the NHL wants to suspend players for fighting, they need to suspend randy jones more than 2 games for attempted murder on Bergeron, and start suspending ruutu and tootoo for attempts to injure.
