Butt end won't stay in the shaft...any ideas?

I got a XXX Lite that was to short.

I put a wooden butt end in the shaft, used a nice amount of glue, heated it evenly, and it felt good.

I take 2 or 3 slap shots and the butt end literally came out of the shaft.

This was a standard wooden butt end in a XXX Lite.

Any ideas???

put a strip of tape on the tenon of the plug

Put a piece of tape over the end of the plug, add the glue and try it again. If it comes out put on a second strip, perpendicular to the the first, and insert.
