Bauer Vapor XXII fitting ?

Recommended Posts

I'm 5'8" 175 and been playin hockey pretty much all my life but recently got back into it 3-4 days a week. I still have my old Bauer Supreme 3000's from HS with the TUUK Custom +. I never had the skate profiled or radiused. I just got used to the new TUUK and stuck with it. I went out the other day and bought new Bauer Vapor XXII's and they are stiff as hell. I had them baked and skated on them for the first time the other day and the arches on the insides of my feet are killin me. Other than that issue the skates feel great.

Do I just need to skate on them a few weeks to get used to em and break them in or do you think they may be too narrow?

Also, my old Bauer 3000's felt great to stride, cut, stop, etc... The new Vapors feel like I'm on my heels all the time and it is a horrid feeling. I'm not too in tune with profiling, radiusing, etc... but what am I looking for as far as that goes? I have always played wing/center.

Old Bauer Supreme 3000's with TUUK Custom + compared to the Bauer Vapor XXII with the LS2

Thanks for any feedback!

Coming from 3000's it may take you a few more outings to break in the XXII's. If after that time their still uncomfortable you may need to try baking them again and try them out for a few more games. Where you in a D width or E width skate in your 3000's? If you had a wide boot in the 3000's you might need to go the same route with the XXII's and go to an E width boot.

Thats what I was figuring. A bit more break in time is what Ill need. The boot on my old 3000's were a D too. I'm just gonna have to have them molded again and deal with it!! Thanks for the reply

Anything above the bottom line skate I always recommend coming back in after a few skates for a second baking, it seems to help.

I'll be skating Monday, Wed, and Fri for a couple hours a piece. After that I think Ill have em baked again and probably have my shop put a forward radius on. Either that or have them put a heel lift in.
