Tikhonov/O'Brien Empty Net Goal

Found this pretty funny. Happened during the game today. They didn't blow it dead. It looked like Tikhonov hit the puck into the net, but after the other angle was shown, O'Brien actually hit the puck into the net, while Tikhonov whiffed. He got the goal however, because he got the tip into the air before that. If Tikhonov hit the puck there, it should've been waived off.

I'm not sure if it's correct but from what I've been told the team taking a penalty needs to have control of the puck for the play to be blown dead. A tip would not warrant a dead play.

The goal would not have stood if the puck had gone into the net as a result of Tkhonov's actions.

this happened in nhl 09 when i was playing the computer..they had the puck and it got strangely tipped and went in to their net...ever since then ive wondered if there had been a goal like that in the nhl lol..

That just happened to me in my dynasty mode with the 'Nucks in NHL 09!!!

I was regrouping in my own zone on a delayed Penalty and the defenseman passed it to the other, who missed it, and it went in the net!

What a debacle last night :(
