Inline Goalie Wheels

Recommended Posts

My goalie buddy has a pair of Bauer Vapor goalie skates which came with Hyper Pro goalie wheels on them. He's been wearing them for about 6 months & most of his wheels are cracked or chunking badly (some have large enough chunks missing that the wheel core is showing). Looking for some recommendations on a good goalie wheel for him. He's about 6' 4" & maybe a hair above 200lbs.

Thanks.

My other half is around 80kg and destroys the first two rink rat crossbars on each skate after 4-6 hours of play (2/3 painted concrete, 1/3 sport court). I know exactly what you mean by chunking all the way down to the hub, especially on the inside edges.

What is the max wheel size you can put in those skates? I have a feeling its 47mm, if so, your mate is pretty stuck for options. The only ones I have come across in that size are the hyper pro (76a) and the rink rat cross bars (74a). If he is chunking the hyper pros the crossbars would be even worse.

If he is getting 6 months out of them, thats not too bad. However, Id hate to be forking out for 10 new wheels every 6 months.

Other options would include, a chassis swap (e.g Labeda Predator) could be an option so that he can use 59mm wheels. Labeda Patriot are the hardest 59mm goalie wheels I have seen (82a). The Revision Axis is (76a).

The wheels that came with my partners skates (Tour Redline 5000) are the Labeda Closer Wheels (59mm, 78a), I cant find them on the Labeda site unfortunately. So I dont know whether you could buy those wheels seperately.

They seem to be holding up really well 7hrs a week for the last couple of months. We put those back on after he destroyed the cross bars.

With a 59mm chassis, your friend could experiment with player wheels, if he wants more options.

Let us know how your mate goes. Id be interested to hear if there are any other good options

Would aggressive inline wheels fit width wise. If so that may be a good route. There also anywhere from 88A to high 90s. Which could help durability
