Rocker skates

Recommended Posts

I have the Mission Boss skates and my friend who has the Colbalt Q's just started using 72mm wheels in the front, I think, and 80mm wheels in the back 3. My boss skates wheels have 2 80mm in the back and 2 76mm in the front. Would it work better if I put 72mm or 74mm wheels in the front?

If you want a rocker, only change the front wheel. Going to 74 or 72 will give you a rocker, but changing the second wheel will cause it to sit off the floor and spin freely, doing nothing.

you can get 74mm wheels??? I was looking round a little bit for them a while ago to try and make the RBK 6k's flat by replacing the second wheel, ah well, sprungs now; way better.

I put 80/76's on my Tour chassis and it worked ok, and gave me a bit of a forward lean but definitely didn't feel right. Your skates are setup 76mm/80mm for a reason... let them be.

holy crap, 72 in the front with 80s on the back? to me that seems like a huge rocker, maybe 76's but 72's would be too much for me.

That is what the original HiLo chassis had, only with two 72's in the front and two 80's in the back. The Red-Stars also shared this configuration.

the original hi-lo's frame shape was different though, the front axles were lower than the back 2 so that everything was pretty much on the ground with a 1mm rocker at the front. say for example you got a hummer and put a 72mm wheel in the front, when your on your back 3 the front wheel is going to be 4mm off the ground, that's a fair bit.

I like my hummr's better with a 76mm up front. I just put an vanguard chassis on a boot and skated a little tonight. So far I like that as it is.

That's exactly what i did. I had 80/76mm set up on my hummer chassis...it got the job done but i felt like i was limited. Then i put a vanguard chassis on an ice boot and it felt ALOT better.
