Different skate fit

Recommended Posts

I know different skates all fit a little different, but would it be normal to be a 10.5 D in Vapor and a 10 D in the one 95, when they are from the same company? I am an 11 in the Easton S17 and an 11 in Graf as well. My shoe size is 12 and I have a norrow heel with a wider front foot and have been struggling to find a skate to replace my old Graf 705.

I recently tried Vapor XXXX and loved how I skated in them, but I had to return them due to excess heel slippage. The S17's I tried on were only a 10.5 and a little short but felt very nice with what seemed to be good heel lock. Any thoughts on these or any others I should look at? I am waiting to try the X60's but am expecting the same heel issues I had with the 40's.

Thanks for the help. This is a very helpful forum.

If your heel is slipping in a Vapor XXXX then the one95 is probably not the right choice. You may want to try on a one75. Bottom line is you've got to try them on because everybody's feet are different. The xxxx fit me fairly well, the one95 was a little too big and the one75 was a little more snug all the way around but the heel lock was tight. I tried all 3 in size 9EE. Best advise I can give you is try on as many skates as you can.

There's quite a few threads on this exact question so check out the search option as well.

fyi...my Grafs are 10W but I probably could have dropped down to a 9.5. If your 705's fit you well, why not get another pair?

I had the S15's and although they locked the heel, they caused pain in my forefoot and seriously killed my ankles. I think it was the crap tongue (they addressed in the S17). I switched to the one95's and couldn't be happier. I was hoping to fit the Vapor XXXX's since they were on sale for $299 at Hockey Monkey, but they didn't lock my heel as well as the one95's and they felt too narrow in the forefoot. I have narrow heel/ wide forefoot and very thin ankles. I love the fit/ stiffness and everything about the one95.

I never felt as good in the Grafs as in Bauers. After using the XXXX's for a few weeks and then going back to the Grafs really made me want to get back to Bauer. I feel like a much better skater on the Bauers.

Any word on expected heel lock on the X60s compared to the 40's?
