How can u tell a skate's radius

Recommended Posts

HI... I got a pro-return skate... GRAF 703s Size 9 and was wondering how I can tell the radius of the skate.... Aside from drawing a huge circle on the ground... any hints?

thanks in advance

Drew

Print some arcs in the appropriate radii out of Illustrator. Tape it to the wall. Hold the skate up a few feet away and shine a flashlight on the blade. The shadow of the blade should be easy to line up with the arcs you taped to the wall.

I think I still have the PDF of the Illustrator file I made. I'll look around my machine.

just trace the blade with a pencil and check against the PDF file we have available for download on our website.

i'd post a link but ...

funny that I did not even think to do that with Illustrator.

Gonna do that now.

Thanks so much

AI can be tricky because it only lets you make a circle as large as 227" which isn't large enough for 10'. I tricked it by making the arcs at 25% then printing at 400%.

Edit: I had the files posted to Picasa but it seems to resize the files I uploaded. That's not going to work. Maybe it's best to PM me and I'll email you the file until I figure out where I can post the file that it wont get resized.
