Removing screened on labels from hockey pants

Looking at a post on new pants raised this question to me: is there a way to remove the screened on labels on pants? I don't like the advertising. Particularly, the company names on the top, waist / kidney part of the pants. I think most are just screened on, but some may be embroidered.

When you wash them it fades.
